New iMac and Mac Mini to be unveiled at mini iPad announcement on October 23, report says
"Apple is expected to announce the iPad mini next week, but that's not all the Cupertino-based company has in store, according to multiple reports on the Web.
Nine to 5 Mac is reporting that the tech giant is also planning to reveal a new version of its tiny Mac mini computer. Citing unnamed sources, the report says the new Mac mini will have USB 3.0 ports and newer chipsets.
The Mac mini was last redesigned two years ago and hasn't received an internal upgrade since last summer. The new models that will be unveiled next week will begin shipping immediately, according to the report.
Accompanying the Mac mini will be an updated iMac. Both 9 to 5 Mac as well as Apple Insider are reporting that Apple is readying new versions of its iMac desktop computer and could begin selling the updated machine a day after the iPad mini event.
Earlier this week, 9 to 5 Mac reported that Apple will announce a 13-inch version of its Retina higher-resolution display MacBook Pro laptop at the iPad mini event. The company launched a 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display over the summer, and since then, analysts have predicted multiple times that it will also come out with a 13-inch version before the holidays."
