GOD'S BANKERS takes us to a special night of ceremonies with Buddhist Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang

GOD’S BANKERS has been part of some pretty great events since its February 3 release, from hanging out with Bill Maher and Jon Stewart to SRO crowds at Books & Books and the JCC. 

But without question the most unique appearance is coming in two days on May 13. This Wednesday, the book takes us to a series of ceremonies in a Miami Beach synagogue with His Holiness Drikung, a spiritual brother to the Dalai Lama, and a reincarnation from a 1,000-year-old lineage of holy Tibetan lamas. His Holiness Drikung is visiting Miami for just a few days. On May 12, there is an interfaith Light of Wisdom Concert at Miami Beach’s Temple Beth Shalom. And on May 13, also at Temple Beth Shalom, there is a celebration of the Birthday of the Shakyamuni Buddha, featuring a ritual, candlelight offering, and ending with a private dinner with His Holiness. 

At the suggestion of the remarkable Mei Pham, the director of Hibiscus Island’s ChakraSamvara Buddhist Center, and a green light from Rabbis Gary Glickstein and Gayle Pomerantz, when those attending on May 13 finish lighting candles in the Temple’s sanctuary, as they leave they will get ready for dinner that will take place about half an hour later. They will pass through a room in which I will be at a table signing copies of God's Bankers - A History of Money and Power at the Vatican. I am donating any of my proceeds that night to the very good cause of helping the Tibetan victims of the recent earthquake.
